Metal Music on the Rise

With the announcement last week of Chris Jericho, from Fozzy, being on the next season of Dancing with the Stars, its apparent to me that Metal music is getting more popular year after year.

Metal, the red headed stepchild art form of music, has always seemed to be a shunned genre. Mainly shunned because of subject matter, looks, and crazy antics of the musicians. A great deal of the rock stations i listened to while driving cross country seemed to push it on the back burner so they could play more trendy recycled garbage. I do have to admit that I caught a few small stations here and there playing Slipknot, Flaw, and Static-X. The better smaller stations i experienced were in Baton Rouge and Las Vegas.

With extremely popular groups like Slayer and Lamb of God being nominated at the Grammys, and given tv shows Like the Osbornes and Gene Simmons Family Jewels, our genre is getting harder and harder to ignore. Hopefully some day in the near future we can get a station here in Los Angeles that will cater to the metal crowd, or the current station can start playing some metal instead of sponsoring all of the shows but have no intention of showcasing of the bands on their station.

More news with the calendar

When I added the calendar last month, i wasnt really sure how to do it or what to use. I thought the logical choice would be to go with Google Calendar since i am a big user of Google. More so than anyone else i know. Well, it turned out that it wasnt as flexible as i wanted especially with viewing multiple calendars without being logged into Google. So, Im trying out this new guy and am converting all of the dates on the old calendar to this new one.

One other thought, right now, i am only facilitating the concerts in the southwest US (Southern California, Las Vegas, and Phoenix), but maybe in the future if there is demand elsewhere i will add some of the other major metro zones like new york, seattle, central Florida and chicago to name a few. Once i get into the groove of things, i will probably start adding some music news and giving commentaries on whats going on. leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
